Observed on Tahsas 29 in the Ethiopian calendar, corresponding to January 7 in the Gregorian calendar, Genna is a deeply spiritual and festive occasion. Rooted in Ethiopia’s unique Orthodox Christian traditions, Genna is celebrated with midnight church services, traditional hymns, and heartfelt prayers.
